This book is partly based on the German edition published by Prestel in 1986 in conjunction with an exhibition held in Germany. The introductory essay discusses Botero's (b.1932, Colombia) unique and strongly-held vision (and why it has been well-received in Europe but disdained or ignored in the US). A detailed biographical narrative is illustrated with small bandw photos of paintings and sculpture. The full-page color plates that follow feature 111 works. An interview with Botero, six of his short stories, a listing of his one-man exhibitions, and a bibliography complete the volume. Distributed by te Neus Publishing.
