摘要:Hand-spun and hand-woven textiles have always been an integral part of the cultures of South-East Asia. As a dynamic art form, threads woven and worn often provide a revealing insight into the past and present lives of the weavers and wearers. This book maps contemporary areas of production and markets, and documents a cross-section of current practices and examples of tie and dye weaving in Indonesia. Aimed at both the textile student and the general reader, it provides a fascinating introduction to the diversity of the textiles of each of the main islands as well as useful guidance on their identification and classification.
