One of the most important representatives of contemporary sculpture, the German Abraham David Christian made an impressive career: He has gained an excellent reputation since he was nineteen years old, when giving his debut at the documenta 5. Starting off with paper and plaster sculptures, he developed a differentiated use of forms in his later bronzes, on which this book exclusively focuses. Corresponding to Christian's works in paper and plaster, the bronze sculptures testify to the artist's characteristic language, generating universal and timeless significance. Maintaining residences in New York, DA1/4sseldorf, and Hayama (Japan), his works are not committed to Western culture alone, but are visibly open towards various cultural influences.
