Art nouveau :the style of the 1890s

This book examines the art of Japan and Korea. Relations between the two are highlighted. Likewise, the text points out the influence of China, whose artists of the Shan, Han and T'ang dynasties inspired splendid Korean painting and pottery. It was then Chinese and Korean craftsmen and painters migrating to Japan in the sixth century who paved the way for the fine early temple architecture, sculpture, painting, lacquer- and metal-work. Art from Korea is presented from the Koguryō, Paekche, Silla, Koryo, and Yi periods. Japanese art is presented from the Jōmon, Yayoi, Kofun, Asuka, Nara, Heian, Kamakura, Muromachi, Momoyama, Edo and Modern periods.
