摘要:An illustrated interview with the celebrated theater director just after returning from Africa with his Center of Research, a group of young actors based in Paris. Brook explains his views on theater, cross-cultural performances, improvisation, Shakespeare, working iwth young actors, etc. "In an African village we never knew what to start with--a song, a movement, an improvisation. Each action would lead to a reaction from the audience, Llaughter or some such, and from the response in the audience the performers changede. The word "actor" does not exist there, only "dancers," "singers," or "acrobats." The Africans were delighted adn attentive. This moved the actors deeply."
