摘要:In this play, Aristophanes satirizes the weaknesses of man and his insitutions. Two disgruntled citizens, Euelpides and Pisthetaerus, seek toescape the pettiness of life in Athens by dwelling among the birds. They convince the birds that they were once sovereign over the earth, and should reclaim their supremacy by building a kingdom of their own which excludes the gods and invites all men to join the birds and acquire wings.
