Originating as a proud coat of arms based on the shiedl of the knight of old, the emblem bacame a decoration on the jacket pockets of young knights on university campuses in the nineteenth century. Then it grew into an indispensable part of the sports fashions of the upper classes. But, now, having broken away from campus and club, it has taken a new lease on life as a colorful decoration in the world of popular fashion.
