摘要:Tea recounts how Chinese composer Tan Dun wrote the opera Tea, a tragic love story set against the background of the Japanese tea ceremony. He combines eastern and western composition techniques with musical ideas to create a unique sounding fusion between two great musical traditions. The Tea opera is the door to this journey into the mystical world of Chado, the Way of Tea. Includes interviews with Tan Dun, librettist Xu Ying, and director Pierre Audi, and a performance of excerpts from the opera (Nancy Allen Lundy, soprano; Ning Liang, contralto; Christopher Gillett, tenor; Haijing Fu, baritone; Stephen Richardson, bass; NHK Symphony Orchestra; Dutch Chamber Orchestra; Tan Dun, conductor). Broken silence: Joël Bons went to China in 1988 looking for composers to create programs for the Dutch Nieuw Ensemble. This documentary presents his commentary about the opening up of Western musical influences after the Cultural Revolution. Five contemporary Chinese musicians and composers, Tan Dun, Chen Qigang, Guo Wenjing, Mo Wuping, and Qu Xiaosong, relate their backgrounds and musical experiences and philosophies.
