Annotation The Next Steps Program of Actions was endorsed by the World Bank's Executive Board in 1993. The plan identified 87 distinct operational, institutional, management, and personnel tasks, more than 90 percent of which have been completed or are at an advanced stage of completion. This report highlights the progress and changes that the Bank has made or is making to increase the organization's impact on development. The report summarizes progress in seven major areas that affect portfolio management, including country performance, project and portfolio restructuring, project quality, independent accountability, the internal environment, and generic and institutional factors. The book contains a matrix providing a detailed description of the actions already completed, as well as those being continued or to be commenced in the near future.
