The focus of this extensive Elmgreen and Dragset monograph is celebrity. Their newest work deals with VIP life, self-deception and public life in the media. Distortion, rumours and half-truths play a huge role in the world of glamour, in creating either dream worlds or scandals. In this context, "Celebrity" looks at the mechanisms of the media and its formation of myths. The two "Celebrity" installations in ZKM are documented over numerous colour plates: in one atrium of the museum is a realistic high-rise, in the other a neo-classical ballroom. This is about the relationship between 'the one and the many': the one celebrity in the ornate ballroom, and the masses of 'normal' people in the high-rise.
