“A Pleasant Journey in the Mountains” features 12 “mountain” themed works in the collection of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA). The works are of different media, including ink painting, eastern gouache, watercolor, oil painting, and woodcut. Through these art creations on “mountain”, the artists display respective artistic ideas and concepts. Some of these works rationally capture visual reality, some express feelings at heart. Whether it is objective rationality or subjective feelings, the artists replace camera shutter with paintbrush and colors in their pursuit of perfection in creations, and the works will always exhibit the artists' distinct emotions and styles. Some of the works carry on the traditional Chinese literati spirit, expressing a philosophy of natural harmony; some are influenced by ideas of modern western painting and abstract aesthetics, showcasing diverse artistic characteristics. When visitors enter the venue, it is as if they are visiting a scroll painting. As the scroll gradually opens, different visual focuses are unveiled. -- Publisher's blurb.
