This book is a collection of twelve works written by Osamu Dazai between 1938 and 1948. The range of works spans from Dazai's mid- to late-periods, and the imagery is diverse: from the decadent and guilt-ridden Dazai to the delicate and sensual Dazai of kindness - "I looked at the flowers in my ignorance, and I thought to myself, "There are in fact advantages in human beings, too. The one who realizes the beauty of flowers is a human being, and the one who loves and cherishes flowers is also a human being". Smelling the scent of the lilies, even though I was staring at them alone. I will never think dirty thoughts. Perhaps I'm a little overjoyed. I guess women's preferences are so incomprehensible.
