Paper spirits :collage portraits

Vladimir Sulyagin was born in the Urals in 1942. He was 12-years-old when Stalin died. He grew up in a world of shadows, peopled by poets whose names could not be mentioned, writers whose books were never published, artists whose work was never seen. None of his heroes or heroines qualified for Soviet commemorative busts or portraits. So the author cut their faces out of wrapping paper - Mayakovsky, Einstein, Dostoevsky, Akmatova, Joyce and Mandelstam to name a few. This book is a collection of 45 of these collage portraits.
