As playwright, as polemicist, as irrepressible arguer, he has himself been a living exemplar of what a theatrical tradition ought to be. His opponents have been varied and many, but in particular he has always tilted his lance against the bureaucratic pillars of what passes as the theatrical Establishment in Wales.
