Hassan Sharif is a contemporary artist from the Emirate of Dubai, U.A.E. where he lives and works today. He began his artistic life as a cartoonist during the 1970s, and then went to art school. He has drawn, painted, photographed, performed, experimented, and installed. Sharif decided that he was something between a painter and a sculptor, but could not find an existing category that was appropriate, so now he defines his work as 'objects'. Sharif and brother Hussain founded the Emirates Fine Arts Society, and this book presents Sharif as the personification of modern art as practiced in the U.A.E.
