This 'reader' expands on the material in the 6th Berlin Biennale catalogue and features extensive photo spreads, an essay by Michael Fried, as well as the results of roundtable discussions held in advance of the Biennale in various cities and constellations with such participants as Johanna Mytkowska, Dieter Roelstraete, Slawomir Sierakowski and Artur Zmijewski, among others. Since its first edition in 1998, the Berlin Biennale has developed into the most important forum for contemporary art in one of the world's most attractive art metropolises. It is organized by the KW Institute for Contemporary Art. The 6th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art (11 June – 8 August 2010) presents works by 50 artists and is curated by Kathrin Rhomberg. In the process, she explores the central questions regarding the contemporariness and art's relationship to it.
