摘要:This film documents and preserves the Erick Hawkins modern dance technique. Archival and current footage covers over 30 years of classes, rehearsals, and performances by Erick and his company. This serves to present the underlying principles that form the foundation of this approach to dance and dance training. Part I introduces the basic philosophy of the technique, using a typical class floor warm-up to demonstrate them. Part II presents standing and traveling portions of a class, which presents the technique within the larger context of Hawkin's aesthetic vision.
