In the next five centuries nine great nations took the spotilight in the process of modemization. They are Portugal, Spain, Holland, Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Russia and the United States. The succession of great nations on the world stage had left unique marks of these countries development wich are served as inspirations in today's world and will definitely influence the future. The Rise of the Great Nations, a 12-episode TV documentary series, is trying to look into the history with a new global perspective and to study the driving forces behind the rising of the great nations.
